Born in Ohio in 1958 and bred in Tennessee. A mixed breed of designer, musician (if 5 -string banjo counts), educator, haunted attraction producer, and over the hill athlete. Above all though Jeff Preston is an illustrator, simply put it was a destiny almost from birth. Monster's held an inexplicable fascination to the child, and he drew them constantly. Where most boys in his neighborhood grew up idolizing sports figures the names of Frazetta, Gogos and Rockwell were the giants he looked up to...and still does. After a stint in the Navy he went back to school and studied illustration with a vengeance at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio graduating in 1985. A freelance career started immediately after and continues to this day. What he relishes the most has been the opportunities to illustrate horror, "it's my first love".
Monsterscene and Little Shoppe of Horrors magazines have both carried his covers and interior illustrations. The German based Virus Magazine will be featuring his work and interview in their upcoming issue #19. Halloween is a magical time for Preston, it encompasses the awe and youthful innocence where the imagination explodes in glorious spooktacular imagery. The October Shadows show captures the essence of that spirit. "I feel humbled and deeply honored to be asked to participate" said Jeff, "To even be in the same room with such legendary artists leaves me speechless." He is also a very proud artist member of the New York Society of Illustrators.
