Born in Madrid, Spain, Cristina came to Los Angeles, CA at the age of one. At the age of four, she was introduced to the film industry by Raffaelle Butler (her mother) a makeup artist, whose body of work includes "Doctor Zhivago", "To Kill a Mockingbird", and various television sitcoms for Paramount Studios. Cristina started by participating in "background" work and light acting. Accompanying her mother to sets often, Cristina became more intrigued with makeup application. In the 1980s, she was following in her mother's footsteps, diving into makeup in the motion picture industry: ranging from straight makeup, special effects makeup, tattoo application/design and also hair technician work. In 1995 she joined Professional VisionCare Associates as a Contact Lens Technician. In 2002, Cristina was promoted to Special Effects Coordinator, and by the end of the year, she was designing and painting contact lenses for films, television and prosthetic lenses for patients. Also, she became responsible for coordinating shows, special effects fittings and exams, and training and supervising all on-set technicians. Cristina is an accomplished self-taught painter in the fine arts, with a particular interest in surrealism. Her work is ongoing to discover new and inventive ways to paint contact lenses. She is known for her abilities to work closley with the makeup artist and her attention to detail.
