Adriana M. Galvez grew up east of Eden, in the foggy small town of Salinas located in central California. Salinas is known for its rolling green hills, fields full of iceberg lettuce, strawberries , tainted spinach and author John Steinbeck. She grew up working with her parents, who managed a movie theater in Salinas that showcased Spanish speaking/subtitled films. She was a kid literally running around in a candy store, watching movies like "Alien," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and many Lucha Libre films at least 10 times each over a weekend!
Craving sunny weather, she moved to Southern California very soon after high school. She attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where she was an Illustration major for several years. Many paintings and jobs later, she finally got her break in animation working at Dic, then the king of Saturday morning cartoons. Some of the studios she has since worked for include; Klasky-Csupo, Nickelodeon, Starz Media/ Film Roman and Disney. Currently she is working on the 12th season of Fox's "King of the Hill" as a Background Paint Supervisor.
Early in life, Adriana was dreamy for the tropics and was obsessed with all things Halloween. No doubt it was due in part to the many treks to Disneyland Resort, where jaunts to the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Enchanted Tiki Room shaped her young brain. Later, when her brain was mostly shaped, she began to pursue real adventures with trips to Mayan Pyramids in Mexico, scuba diving Cozumel & Polynesian islands, and most recently a trip to Machu Pichu, Peru. She attempts to satiate her yearly Halloween fever by crafting outrageous prize winning Halloween costumes mostly every year! Some years ago, after Adriana's second visit to the tropical island of Maui, she began to delve into the world of the Tiki. This interest soon blossomed into painting Tiki art, which she is now combining with her love for Halloween.
Adriana has shown her Tiki artwork at numerous art shows in Northern and Southern California. She has also been published in a few art books & magazines, which most recently include; "Tiki Art Now!," and "Tiki Magazine." When time permits, she can be found poolside with her pals sipping Rum cocktails at her tropical lair in Burbank, Ca. Rumor has it that her brain is still not finished being shaped.
